Well this past weekend was a good one, and a promising start to the sunny season here! Had a successful day doing a Caricature gig, making caricatures for customers at a festival. Had many happy customers, and got some solid sunburn, so a fair trade in my book.
Along with that eventful day, I had plenty of time to think about what kind of work I want to tackle next. I would like to dedicate more time towards my comics and animations over this coming summer. I've definitely wanted to put a bigger focus on them for a while now, but I easily fall into the trap of starting doodle sketches (that should really stay as such) that turn into fully illustrated pieces. Not that that's a terrible thing, I'd just like to put some focus on my other skills for a change.
The nice weather also reminds me that it's a good time of year to get out of the house and enjoy things outside the internet every once in a while. Grant it you can do that any time of year, but I like the sunshine and warm air. Haha. But for real, it is good for you, and in my experience it's helpful to just go out for a walk, or go somewhere to enjoy yourself in order to help clear the mind of all the nonsense that can be bottled up. It's easy to get sucked into all the crazy stuff going on online, but it's important to give yourself some fresh air and just enjoy time with yourself or with friends. I've been spending much less time on social media recently, and the nice weather has been a big motivator to keep that going, for the sake of both my mental and physical health.
Oh! And speaking of doodles that turned into full illustrations on a whim, here's the most recent one! (which you can also view in the art gallery)
I hope to have more work to showcase by the end of June, but after the burnout rut I won't rush anything. Haha. ^^;
That's all for now! I'll be back again with another post soon. Stay creative!
